St. Jude School Reviews

St. Jude is a great school! They teachers are caring and will go above and beyond for their students. My children are very happy and love going to school everyday. There is a sense of family that you just can't get in a public school.

All the 5 star and good reviews are probably written by the teachers!

St. Jude is a wonderful school with a close family togetherness. St. Jude produces bright students who graduate Valedictorian and continue on in high school graduating top five students.

This would be a good school, if the principal and pastor would address the problem teachers. They have been told about them and have turned a blind eye to the issues they have created. Enrollment is shrinking because of this. St. Mary's in Mokena has a waiting list. This should tell you something. Also, being a small school, the parents need to help out more. Unfortunately, only a few do!

We were fortunate enough to get a new principal last year who is outstanding! Between our pastor and her, there have been numerous positive changes to our school. While our public schools are good, they cannot compare to the warm family atmosphere and great learning environment provided at St. Jude. Families know each other, and take care of each other. Parents know who their kids friends are, as well as their entire family. You could not ask for a better place to have your children spend their grade school years. Not only do our students excel while at St. Jude, a great number go on to make honor roll and National Honor Society in high school. We also have a great number of our athletes continue on to play in high school! This is a great school!

The school is horrible. The teachers are mean and do not like their jobs or care about the children. It is a shame that the only catholic school in New Lenox is not a place that any parent should send their children to.

There are a tremendous positive attributes of this school the Spanish program that starts in Kindergarten, the music and art availability, the investment in the computer lab. The fact that is small private school provides a resource teacher is also strong evidence of the schools commitment to the education of its students. The curriculum is strong and getting better. It is not perfect, but it is a school that engages students and parents and has a principal who is committed to providing the best possible educational experience. The class sizes allow students to get the attention they need and relationships that encourage community connectedness. My only experience so far is with the lower grades, but in those grades my son is outperforming his peers in the public school in terms of reading and math. In addition communication between teachers and parents is open and frequent. There is no better place

Our children have attended st. jude school after several years in the public schools. Although New lenox 122 is a very good district, the overall benefits of a catholic education far outweigh any negative factors. The small school atmosphere, the catholic morals that are taught here are things that you cant find at the public schools. The teachers are obviously dedicated to their calling as catholic educators, they are knowledgable in their fields, friendly and go out of their way to help not only the students but the entire St. Jude family.

After our first year at this school, I can honestly say that with two children who are learning below their grade level- this was a waste of money. The promises were made before we made the change, unfortunatly they were just empty words. Tuition has doubled, but the quality of educators has not. Since the parish is struggling to pay a mortgage, the school is suffering. As a parent that values a Catholic education- this is a great disappointment.

This school has a lot of potential but at this point is noteven close to being competitive with the area poublic schools for academics or even social programs. For a catholic school the teachers are extremely uncaring and are yellers. It is evident that kids and teachers are all miserable because you barely see a smile when walking throught the halls.

I am a parent of children that attend St. Jude. We have a new principal this year who is really making positive changes in the school. The graduates of the school excel when they move to either public or private high schools. Excellent school for your children to receive a Catholic education by teachers who care.

I have been a parent at St. Jude for 7 years. There have been many changes over the years and I can honestly say with the new principal in place this year, things are better than ever. There is a crisis management system in place that has been approved by the NLPD, the Spanish program for grades K-8 is in its 5th year and Music, Art, PE and Computer are all part of the curriculum. Parents work closely with teachers both as partners in education and on various committees. Both boys' and girls' athletics are offered beginning in 5th grade in which student athletes must maintain good grades to stay eligible. To get an idea of curriculum, go to the St. Jude website itself and click on school. There you can see some of the teachers' newsletters to the parents and some of the current events.

This school is one of the worst schools ever. Some of the teachers dont even know what they are doing. I recommend that you do not send anyone to this school!

It's a good Christian environment, but the catholic spirituality is lacking. Mostly because of the lack of spiritual leadership. The teachers are good and the students seem happy.

Mr. Ritchie is a great principal. This is his second year at the school and each year he is bringing more new classes in for the children. We now have a full day of kindergarden, but you may request a half a day. We had a chance to learn to roller-blade. Thisd is our second year for Spanish. There is too much to say about the school and the principal.

This school represents a closely knit community. The classes are small so the individual child is not lost. Many students go on to achieve honor roll status at their chosen high schools.
